Working women
Topic:
You participated in a writing contest and you were given the following topic: « Are you for or against working women? » write an article giving arguments for and arguments against, then present your personal standpoint.
The number of working women is increasing recently. This phenomenon has of course affected many people either positively or negatively. The main question that worries the majority is whether a career woman can properly care for the children or not. The answer is that though there might be some drawbacks, the benefits of this work largely outnumbers the losses.
To start with, a working woman often feels self-confident and develops a great sense of own personal identity which can be reflected on her image as a fit and healthy mother, psychologically. Another point in favor of mothers working is that their children often learn to be independent from an early age, which prepares them perfectly for future responsibilities. The third benefit is that when the father’s salary alone isn’t enough to cover all the expenses, especially those of education, the mother’s one interferes to compensate the shortfall.
On the other hand, child care is demanding, nowadays. A working mother will have to spend all what she earns on maids, baby-sitters and kindergartens. In addition to this what may start as a good strategy to bring up self-dependent children, could turn to a bad education, in which kids grow up lonely and unsociable, as they rarely see their parents during daytime. The last but not least argument is not matter how hardworking a working mother might be inside and outside the house is really more than very tiresome.
To put it briefly, there are countless arguments both for and against working women. And although the benefits outnumber the costs, I think that it should be left to the individual wife and mother to choose and decide.
