Unemployment : the Causes and the Solutions
Topic : How
can unemployment be eliminated?
Introduction
Your
attention as you pass in front of the Kingdom's parliament in the capital Rabat
often catches the sight of unemployed diploma bearers shouting slogans calling
on ministers and deputies of the nation to work on their employment. This scene has become familiar from its
excessive repetition. Although government statistics confirm that unemployment
is low, the reality is that the number of unemployed is increasing. Why? Is there a way to eliminate
unemployment?
Causes of unemployment
The causes
of unemployment are numerous, the first of which is the lack of compatibility
between education and the labor market.
Indeed, the school has become the focus of criticism of many for filling
the students' heads with theoretical and literary knowledge that does not
prepare them to work in companies, departments and factories. Its critics argue
that it does not teach the skills and competencies required by the commercial
and industrial sectors. This deprives
companies of frameworks and condemns graduates of universities and institutes
to unemployment. In addition to education, rapid demographic growth is one of
the most important factors producing unemployment. There is no doubt that human capital is an essential
pillar of development and development, but if it is not accompanied by economic
growth, it turns into a curse for the country. In particular, our country has
been suffering for years from a stifling economic crisis following years of
drought, the epidemic that has spread in the country, the rise in fuel prices
and fierce international competition.
For example, Chinese competition in textile has led to the closure of a
small number of companies and consequently layoffs of workers, technicians and executives.
Added to these reasons is the refusal of young people, especially those with
higher degrees, to work in the private sector and to demand employment in
public administrations. But are there
solutions to this dilemma?
Solutions to eliminate unemployment
No policy
aimed at eradicating unemployment can ever achieve its goals if it does not
adopt education reform as one of its priorities. The Moroccan school should be reconsidered to
make it able, on the one hand, to teach the skills and competencies that
qualify students to enter the world of work from its wide doors, and on the
other hand, to create a spirit of initiative and innovation among learners, to
make them think about creating their own businesses and searching for solutions
for self-employment, instead of dependence and waiting. This does not mean at
all that the state will not play any role in the field of employment, on the
contrary, government institutions must work to create a sound atmosphere for
investment through tax stimulus, attracting foreign capital, and reforming the
judicial sector and public administration.
Because public companies play a major role in the national economy and
job creation, these companies must be qualified to face competition.
Conclusion
In short,
the cornerstone of any policy is the eradication of unemployment, the revival
of investment, and the reform of education and vocational training to adapt
training to the labour market.
