WRITING | DESCRIPTIVE A WEDDING PARTY
TOPIC :
You attended a wedding party ; try to describe it to your English friends who are eager to know the least description or piece of information about the culture of your country.
Dear friends,
Last summer holidays, I attended one of our neighbors’ wedding party in Casablanca. It was really a special wedding ceremony from organization to food service. I could say that it was the most memorable party I have ever enjoyed.
It was a Sunday evening and the ceremony was held in a big hotel at the city centre. I put on my traditional clothes, some perfume and went with my mother and brother. After exchanging greetings and congratulations with the couple’s parents, we took the front seats. The orchestra was already playing oriental music and drinks with cakes were being served. No sooner had we sat down than the groom and the bride came in, all the guests welcomed them warmly and showered them with roses and flowers.
The groom was a pilot. He was tall, slim, handsome and very cheerful. Wearing a white Moroccan “Djelabba” with traditional yellow shoes and a red fez, he looked fine-looking and gentler. The bride on the other hand was a mannequin, so there is no need to describe the beauty of her body shape, her fitness, the marvel of her wide green eyes or the length of her brown eyelashes. She was bland with long fair hear and pretty red lips. It’s no wonder; she had just been crowned beauty queen of Cherry Festival in “Safrou”. She looked prettier, sweeter and more attractive in her wonderful green “Caftan” with her heavy gold jewellery. Indeed, they were really fitting each other.
Regarding food, it was extremely delicious and typically Moroccan. The menu started with B’stilla with pigeon meat, almonds and eggs, the pinnacle of exquisite Moroccan cuisine. The second dish was beef with prunes. Both dishes were sugary, so the third was of course different. It was roasted chicken with slices of lemon and pepper sauce. How juicy, spicy and flavored it was! The waiters didn’t cease serving drinks, cakes and nuts until dawn, when the wedding cake was the last to taste.
As for the orchestra, I think it’s the most professional one in Morocco. They could play oriental, western, Andalusian and Moroccan popular music of different regions and sorts, like Berber, Gnawa and Malhoun. Everybody felt happy, sang, danced and took photos with the bride and groom. The party was over just after dawn and I was extremely tired but tremendously overjoyed and relaxed. I hope my wedding party will be as enthusiastic and spectacular as that one.
